Then you must have acquired Cycles Gladiator. A decent wine at a decent price...and who can resist the label?

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, Negroamaro or any juicy red from the south of Italy. On the other hand Barbera is fun, any fresh red with low or no tannin. Crisp round white wines work great too, like a falanghina or greco di tufo. Careful though, the south of Italy still has a lot of dirty vinification. Choose your producer well, trust your wine store. Chianti is not a good pizza wine even though you see it in every pizza joint.
