Wednesday Night Pizza Ride

Well, the Wednesday Night Burrito Ride sponsored by Carytown Bike Company is now officially the Wednesday Night Pizza Ride co-sponsored by Carytown Bike Company and Pamparius.com.  It seems CBC just cannot shell out a ton of their free Chipotle burrito cards as often as they used to.  This can be looked at as a good thing because we can all stop ordering Chipotlaway by the case.

Anywho, last night was a pretty fun ride, leaving CBC around 7:25 we rode west to Horsepen, north through lakeside and some areas I wasn’t familiar with and ended up stopping at Zorba’s Pizza in Northside.  I was the only one  to have had the opportunity to dine at Zorba’s  before and I didn’t want to spoil everyone’s fun, but this place just isn’t very good.  Andy loved the atmosphere of the place and the Load-era Metallica shirt that the teen-age pizza chef was wearing but the pizza fell short on these guys.

No one seemed to like the crust.  It looks good but falls completely on its back in terms of taste.  I thought the sauce was very, very bad and maybe the only saving grace of this stuff is the TMNT-esque cheese.  Super stretchy.

Either way, these pizza rides are fun and everyone is welcome to come out.  Meet up at Carytown Bike shop at 7pm every Wednesday and enjoy a chill ride.  Fixed, coasters, gears, all-terrain.  Just come out and ride.

  • The white pizza was a bit better because when you add a bunch of garlic to even the lamest pizza ingredients it somehow improves things by at least 50%. Just like it wards off vampires in the movies garlic wards off bad pizza (at least a bit). There was a healthy dose of fresh sliced tomatoes and feta cheese to help things along as well. The tomatoes were only you typical grocery store slicers and not a nice flavorful vine ripened variety so they could only do but so much. Seeing as we are not really in tomato season I’ll give this a pass for now.

The crust was indeed bunk. It’s a shame really. This place is so close to my house that I was having visions of short bike rides to go grab a slice on a warm evening while enjoying the great atmosphere and architecture of the Bellevue neighborhood. After eating the pizza I’m more likely to go check out the burrito joint across the street. Bummer.

  • if this place had even half decent pie it would be the killer end to every pizza ride. chill outside on picnic tables, eat pizza from a gnarly dudes place, dos amigos when there is a pizza burnout, and chill at a loud random ass bar next store if we feel compelled.

  • if you guys want to make the ride to the black hole that is short pump on any given wednesday I can provide discounted pizza.
