Poutine Pizza

Just finished one of the gnarliest trips of my life and was fortunate I got some pizza along the way. Mostly on the go and in the wilderness for a half the trip, I made a point to grab a slice when I could. A few things to note. Vancouver is either a tough place to score zah, or its residents just have no clue. Second, Poutine Pizza – pizza with fries, cheese curds and gravy – is something frequently eaten apparently. Third, pizza is pretty damn cheap in the NW. I paid ~1.50 for most of my slices, all decent portions. Ranch is huge out here, most places have a squirt bottle next to the register sitting right next to the Ketchup. The fructose corn syrup must set off that natural Canadian pizza flavor.

My favorite slices were in a place called 2001 located on what Cory referenced as pizza row. Happened to be few blocks from the heroine capital of the world somewhere near Columbia and E Hastings street in Vancouver. I charged a tomato slice and a hawaiian slice and washed it down with decaffeinated Mountain Dew, also a regular thing in Canada apparently.

So without any further riff raff, I give you the pacific northwest’s finest, rather the meager shit I happened to come across save for 2001. But hey, pizza is pizza right?
